Aladdin Trouble

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you in regards to the 2017 HIS Production, Aladdin Trouble. All Elementary students will be involved in the production singing their class songs. In addition, quite a number of students have been selected to take part in the production as main or regular characters, as well as backstage crew. I wanted to give you some more information regarding what the show entails and what the commitment means for your child.

The show itself tells the story of the heroes Aladdin and Jasmine and how they overcome the evil plans of the villain Abanazar.

I have created a production website in order to assist with school/home communication and disseminate important resources. On the site you will be able to access the following:

  • The script

  • Casting information

  • Links to music tracks of all songs, as well as instrumental backing tracks

  • Lyric sheets for all of the songs

  • Calendar and schedule information for upcoming rehearsals

  • News regarding the show

I have encouraged all students to use this website so they may be asking you about it soon. Older students may already be using the link I sent to them through their school email accounts.

All students will be rehearsing their class songs during music class time.

The rehearsals for the main characters are during the Elementary Production CCPs, which are held onWednesdays and Friday afternoons from 2pm until 3pm in the Auditorium. The students who have been given these roles have already been informed.

Regular characters and backstage helpers will be called to later rehearsals at a date after Tet. Parents of these students will be informed well in advance of these rehearsals so transportation and other logistics can be arranged.

It is very important that students who have speaking parts learn their lines over the Tet holiday – students will not have sufficient time to learn their lines during school time and are required to practice them at home. It would be appreciated if parents could find some time to go over the lines with their children.

Final Performance

The 3 final performances will take place during the last week of March (27/3-30/3), just before the Spring Break. The final show will be on Thursday 30/3. More information about obtaining tickets and exact times of the shows will be given at a later date closer to the shows.

After just one week of rehearsals for this production, students are very excited and it looks to be a fantastic show. If you do not find all the information you need from the website, then please do not hesitate to email me any questions you may have.
